Dedicated to my Dad on his birthday

 

This post is dedicated to my Dad, of blessed memory, as today is his birthday.  

As my brother Barry noted, today our dad would have been 99 years old.  He died a little over 10 years ago between the Jewish High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  He enjoyed a good meal including dessert.  While I think he might have preferred my mixed fruit dish of blueberries and raspberries topped with ice cream, he would have appreciated my effort at a low-carb diet and that the dish is instead topped with ricotta cheese (as shown in today's featured photo).

  2. Happy belated birthday to your dad, Faye. My dad also appreciated a good dessert! Especially anything involving cream.

    Speaking of ricotta, FYI, I got Kite Hill brand almond-milk ricotta at the co-op last week, and I thought it was delicious. It is expensive, but I don’t buy it too often and since I avoid dairy products, to me, it’s worth the price. I used all of it in savory dishes; next time I’ll have to try it with fruit. I might sweeten it with a little maple syrup when I do that. :)
